Saucy

The block party was slowing down so they decided to  move it upstairs for a good ol' Hot Sauce Competition!

Excitement was all around as the bottles were unloaded out of the fridge.  (Shane has a nice collection)

They picked from the array of sauces.  Grabbed a spoonful of sauce and a spoonful of sugar...As Mary Poppins says....

Tyler joined in with the "Taste The Hottest-You-Could-Ever-Imagine Hot Sauce" group.  They dipped the tip of a toothpick into the sauce and got ready for their ears to explode!

They were not disappointed!

Then the band played.  It. Was. Awesome!

Left -Overs

 More of the fire.
We went and checked the area they "put out".  Apparently, "put out" doesn't actually mean the fire is all out...just not a worry anymore.  Everything around this area had already burn over so these little fires wouldn't be able to go anywhere.

They wanted to roast some marshmellows.  Ultimately, they decided to hold off on the marshmellows...it was too stinky!

Snores (Not S'mores)

Sometimes you just need some ZZZzzzzzzzs...

This is the Life

Brad needed some helpers at work today.  We totally jumped on that boat!
The house with the finished pool is definitely where we want to be "helping"!
Even Cruz was ready to get at!
Each kid did their very best to make sure Brad had everything he needed
There were no problems on this end of the house.

Cruz double-checked.

Signing off on another hard day at work.

By the way, Dad...Your total will be $500 please.

F-I-R-E!

Driving home from Costco led us to this smelly spot...
Oops, someone forgot to throw their cigarette away in the correct container ( i.e. out the window!)...or something.  We witnessed the smoke rise, the fire trucks come, the firemen leaping to the rescue and other such interesting events.  The kids thought it was great! (Apparently, fire is not synonymous with destruction in their cute little minds).
I asked them to show me their unimaginable worry and this is what they came up with:

This fire actually ended up burning for about a week and took out 120 acres or so.  Brad really, really, really wanted to bring his D-5 to Kona and offer his services...but we ended up going to a movie instead :-) (someone else had a tractor out there soon after anyway).  Maybe next time.

Break Time!

What do you do when you have a break?  This is what happens in our house:  resting, napping, snacking, relaxing...

And Pig Faces, of course!

Family Night 101

Tyler decided we needed a formal "Family Night" (none of this "going for a walk and calling it good" business).  We were to have an opening prayer, opening song, lesson, activity, and treat.  We actually do this fairly regularly, but it had been a few weeks, which in kid terms equals, "We NEVER (ever, ever, ever) do family night!"

Tyler took it upon himself to teach the lesson.  He planned it, made a shopping list, and set everything up.  When Dad got home, he taught us all a very important lesson, indeed!
We learned about the importance of bugs in the world and then we constructed our own creatures out of fruit.  Very enlightening.

They were delicious bugs!

Cruz joined us too!

Moral of the lesson:  Don't forget about the bugs! (How could we!?  I want to kill them anytime one gets remotely close to me!)

Back At It!

It is time...
