Noon came and went. I told the midwives, as I served them ice cream, that I was disappointed the baby wasn't here already. I couldn't believe I didn't have him by noon...this was taking forever!
Brad was really good about keeping himself busy and out of the house :-)
Me and mom hung out. She kept track of my contractions, wrote how often and the pain level (what I rated the contraction on a scale of 1-10). They were never very regular and I rated 2 contractions at 4. Not too bad!
I watched a show while sitting on the birthing stool. I basically sat around all morning, doing nothing. It was kind of boring. Dani (midwife) suggested I get in the tub. I didn't really want to get in if I was going to have to get out and in again later, but I ended up going in anyway. It was very comfortable. As you can see in my picture below...just like going hot tubing (but not has hot) :-)
After about 30 seconds of sitting in the tub, my water broke (I could hear it...kind of like a bubble popping) I told mom we should call Brad (he had gone off to load a trailer with Tyler). Brad and Tyler happened into the room right at that moment (he would go out and do something, and come back in to check on me every once in a while). He had enough time to walk in and sit down behind me before I started pushing. We had a baby about 5 minutes after he got there! He would have totally missed it if we had needed to call him home! The girls had gone to a friend's house earlier in the day, but Tyler had wanted to stay.I will spare you the birthy details....but this is my favorite picture! Worth a thousand words!
Cruz was born at 2:20 pm. He is totally perfect! And, of course, everyone wanted to meet him!
Here is how she weighed him :-) A cool scale!
Head size: 14.75 inches (she said average baby is about 13 inches...big boy!)
My midwives: Dani and Naomi :-)
When the girls got home the first thing they wanted to do was hold the little guy! Everyone is so excited to hold him every second! I don't think this kid will hardly touch his bed at all!
