We had an emergency today! Tyler discovered baby fish! The emergency is the bigger fish will eat the babies, unless you separate them immediately. So, we did just that. I took the bowl over to the sink, switched the fish into a smaller, cleaner bowl (which was quite hard, since Sina gave the fish net to the dog a few weeks ago!). Separated the babies into their own bowl. No, I did not loose any down the drain. I think I've only done that once :-)
Everyone was excited about the babies and the counter space was taken up by little bodies trying to poke their heads over the fishbowl to get a glimpse. After everyone had decided there were only 3 babies, they all started traveling back to the table to do their schoolwork. Kaili had a question about some school she was working on so I left SINA and went back to the table. No, Sina did not spill the fishbowl.
About 10 minutes later, however, Tyler yelled, "Mom! Come quick! Another emergency! I think some fish are dead! Well, no, that one was just sleeping!"...
After changing the fishes water several times, we've decided Sina either put Anti-bacterial Hand Sanitizer directly in the water, or put the stuff on her hands and then put her hand in the fish bowl.
We started out with 5 fish. Found 5 babies, and Tyler has just decided they are all dead (when I started writing, there was still one that looked like it was doing okay.)
Needless to say, fish cannot breath hand sanitizer...go figure.
